Tssss I’m jolted awake by a familiar hiss. “He’s right outside,” I think to myself, and burst out the doors, sword in hand. I see the green creature and slowly draw it to the outskirts of the village, just in case I slip up. I allow him to get just within my range TSCHING A clean hit. He’s persistent, he knows one of us will die here. I know it’s not going to be me. SLASH Another easy strike. I know the rhythm now. TCHK SMACK He’s down. “4 good hits is all it takes?” I realize. I was scared for no reason! I check its corpse and harvest gunpowder, thinking it might be useful later. I head back and look for 0w0mi, easily finding her at our Villager house. We take stock and realize we definitely need to get more resources. She tells me that she had been gathering wood and found a cave toward the bottom exit of the village. Seems like the right place to go. We descend into the cave slowly, striking gold (iron?)! Plenty or resources. Iron, Gold, Redstone, Lapis, a few Diamonds and even some Amethyst? Deeper into the cave system the path splits. I head left while 0w0mi goes right. I find an even bigger cave and venture deeper. I see a squad of skeletons. The perfect test dummies for my new strategy. I creep up on them, but they’re instantly aware of my presence. “Serpentine, Serpentine” I yell, as I snake towards them. A flurry of arrows brush past me. It works! I take 1 down. The other 3 adapt, and I’m struck as I bend towards them. I take a 2nd one down, feeling the weight of my injuries. I pull back, and decide to try a different plan. 1…2… THWACK. I mark that timing in my head. 2 steps forward. Build cover. THWACK. Heh, I’ve got them. 2 steps, cover. 2 steps, cover – I dispatch the last 2 skeletons. Phew, I’m ready to get back to mining. I spot something blue and shiny. My eyes light up. My reward for this fight. I’m halfway through that vein, then I’m startled by a sudden shattering sound. Huh, did 0w0mi catch up and toss something at me? A second smash and I’m poisoned. I book it. 2 hearts left I run back to the divide and let 0w0mi know, something, is chasing me. She’s full health and runs in. A Witch! 0w0mi looks terrified, but charges forward. The witch tosses one more potion before she’s slain. Damaged, but victorious, 0w0mi shouts, “Did you see that?” I feel like a proud father. I did see that. “Good work!” Potions seem powerful, but I have no clue how we’d make those. We return to the surface after this, happy with our spoils, and pockets full of ores. We’re finally able to make full sets of iron armor and tools. 0w0mi heads off looking for some lumber, and stumbles upon an igloo? She digs around and discovers a hidden basement. At the bottom, a villager and a zombie villager both locked into prisons. A sign between them has arrows pointing to either, maybe this means we can cure an infected villager? There’s a potion brewing tool next to it, so maybe some kind of potion can cure him? We’ll have to look into this later. While she’s making this discovery, I’m busy trying to develop our farm. I grab some carrots, wheat, and potatoes and venture off into the mountains, to find any kind of animal to add to start my farm. Planning to lure any kind of animal in with their favorite kind of food. As I look I see something leap into the sky in the distance. A white blur? Maybe a rabbit? No, they don’t jump that high. I head off in that direction and I see a pair of horns staring at me. It raises its head towards me and charges. LeBron? No this one is a white goat. He’s a second away from slamming into me, searching for something to do I pull out a stalk of wheat. He stops. I hand it over and he happily chews on it. Looks like I’m starting with goats. I find another one grazing nearby and lure them back to the house slowly. The unruly couple constantly leaps as I lead them back, but we eventually make it. I build a small enclosure and head off to gather more materials to make this a little prettier. Unfortunately I forget they can leap and come back to the pens empty. It takes a little bit of trial and error, but I eventually lock them down. I want one more animal added before I break for the day and head back towards out first shack. I remembered the cow 0w0mi had slain, so I hope he wasn’t the only one. I check the entire area and don’t hear a single moo. He might have really been the only one. I hear a Baa. Looks like I won’t be heading home empty handed. I’m able to lure a couple of sheep back to the village. These ones are finally easy, and no escape attempt is made. After finishing this up, I see a trader stumble into our village. He has an amazing deal for me, baked potatoes for melon seeds! I definitely am not finding melons anytime soon in the climate we’re in, so I make an easy trade. 1 more crop down!
